California customers should check with your local building officials before ordering vent-free fireplace products. Because of the distance of travel and damage claims on returns, we will not under any circumstances accept a return based on code issues from any state where vent free systems are prohibited. It is the customers responsibility to know the codes for your area. If in doubt, call whomever issues building permits for your area.
Montana will not allow any vent-free products because of tight homes, high altitude and extreme cold.
Minnesota will allow vent-free in homes built before a specific date. Check with your local building officials to see if you can install in your area.
North and South Dakota, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico will allow vent free in some areas. Check with your local building officials to see if you can install in your area.
All local authorities can override Federal and State Gas Codes with local ordinances so check to be on the safe side as we do accept returns based on code related issues.
